Captive - Chapter Two

Happy weekend everybody!

I've had a really horrid week so I'm glad that it's finally the weekend at last and I can relax with a glass of wine.

As I'm sure you're aware a short featurette has just been released about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, along with the news that there are going to be FIVE . . . yes, that's right . . . five films in the series.

Now, I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure what I think about this news. Part of me is, obviously, extremely excited about a whole new and previously unknown part of the wizarding world opening up which will give me so much information that I can ruin everyone else I know's lives with for the next decade or so, and the news that the final battle between young Albus Dumbledore and his paramour, Gellert Grindelwald are going to feature eventually is of particular interest - although some of their early relationship has already been covered in the rather excellent fan-made video The Greater Good

My hope is that there will be enough of this new material to sustain the series because I would really hate them to end up being like so many of the film series these days - where they are stretched over several films when one would easily have done (although, fortunately, the Deathly Hallows didn't suffer from this).

Having said that, I trust Jo, and I'm sure she has a whole wealth of material just waiting to be revealed - knowing her she probably had all this already written while she was releasing Harry Potter.

So what do you think about this news? Does it fill you with delight, with dread, or are you unmoved either way?

I know some people are taking great umbrage that Jo keeps on releasing information (especially when it doesn't tally with their fanon ideas) and they feel she should now leave well alone, but I disagree. At the end of the day she is the author of the stories, and in the same way that we fan-fiction writers can't leave them alone, neither can she - and each new piece of information is always interesting, even if breaks your heart (even I thought Wolfstar could be canon).

So onto my story, and in this second chapter we find that Lucius hasn't exactly fulfilled his bargain with Hermione - the utter cad.

I hope you are enjoying the story and would appreciate a few kind words, either as a review or as a comment on here.

While I remember, there's another video you should check out if you haven't already, called Severus Snape and the Marauders which is made by the same people who made The Greater Good. I was one of the people who backed it on Kickstarter and I think it's a fantastic film - and Mick Ignis as Severus Snape is absolutely spot on.

Have a good week (I hope mine's better than the last one) and I'll see you next weekend for the next chapter.

Stay safe, keep the faith!

Dx
